Today the video team from HarperCollins came to my mother’s house to shoot the Bridge Ladies. If this doesn’t go viral I don’t know what will. Spoiler alert: you will find out what days the ladies play Bridge. My mother would like Bette Midler to play her in the film.
Who should play me? And don’t say Robert Downey, Jr.

Debra Winger.
I second Debra Winger.
Sorry, but I know Betsy. Absolutely NOT Debra Winger.
Tina Fey. Duh.
Yes, Tina Fey.
I can’t think of anyone who could play the role better than you could, and believe me, I’ve been thinking about this for ten minutes, checking out lists of Academy Award nominees. I say, get Marisa Tomei. She’d be bound to do a version of you that would be unforgettable, and it would be all hers, leaving you to do the unforgettable true-life version that would remain all your own.
Ditto
Parker Posey
Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Janeane Garafolo, as usual I am right.
Hair color aside (easy fix, though): Francis McDormand or Edie Falco
Yes!
Perfect! I vote Frances McDormand.
Rosie O’donnell
Hahaha, only kidding.
Meryl.
I second Francis McDormand. But Charlize Theron could pull it off and win the Oscar.
Maura Tierney!! And perhaps her friend McNulty would visit the set.
I just love Holly Hunter. How about her?
What’s sort of ironic here (to me anyway) is you wrote a screenplay – or two (?), and if BRIDGE LADIES ends up on the big screen, what a twist of a journey that would be!
I can definitely see Holly Hunter! Francis McDormand or Janeane Garafolo (in a toned-down appearance) would also be great. And Bette as Roz? Divine!
Oscar for screenplay.
Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Lawrence or Kristen Stewart. Oh, Cate Blanchett would be cool also. And your mom’s right on with the Bette Midler thing.
I’m going with Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Lisa Edelstein, Jami Gertz, or Ally Sheedy.
Sarah Silverman?
Barbara Stanwyck??
Can’t believe only one person correctly guessed Jennifer Jason Leigh!
