Bridge Ladies When I set out to learn about my mother's bridge club, the Jewish octogenarians behind the matching outfits and accessories, I never expected to fall in love with them. This is the story of the ladies, their game, their gen, and the ragged path that led me back to my mother.

And I’m Here to Remind You

Day 23 meh. Are we starting to see a pattern here? Writing every day really gives you the chance to see the good days for what they are and the bad days for what they are. It doesn’t matter. The days don’t care about you. Just keep pushing through. We have seven days left. You can do this.

Good day? Bad day?

  1. Just getting started so the jury is still out! 🖊

  2. If you’re vertical and smiling it’s a good day. Today? Oh yeah it’s a good day.

  3. “Good day? Bad day?”

Every day above ground is a good day. This good day included getting over TFW you never want to see the piece again, and getting back to work on it.

  4. “The days don’t care about you” is a great sentence.
I’m trying to get out of my own way and stop judging and overthinking. It’s so hard. Everything swims and glitters.

  5. Busy day, not bad. What I’ve noticed, or at least have had reinforced, is you never know what gem is going to emerge until you put words to paper. Some gems may be more flawed than others, but an emerald is an emerald is an emerald.

  6. It was an okay day. I wrote, I don’t think I laid down any “gems” though, to Mike’s point.

  7. Very good day!! Thanks for your posts!

  8. Major plot thingie needs to be worked out. A bit out of my depth. Eyes closed, feeling my way. Not bad exactly. Just …. HARD.

  9. Got in a good , solid 45 before I went to bed! It was a good day, but also a good writing day!

  10. My project is idiotic and I don’t know how to write. So just a regular day.

  11. The gang’s all here.

  12. Good day? Not yet. Was talking to a sweet young thing and said something brilliant… only realized it 10 minutes later. Damn, can’t remember just what I said.

  13. Day is night in NYC… oh, wait that’s not an original line. I still have hours to go before I sleep. Shit, someone already said that. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe someday. Oops, that was Chrissie Hynde.
Well, all’s well that ends well.

  14. I wrote 3 sentences, but I think they’re amusing so I’ll take it. Day.

  15. Glorious day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium… so much to write and draw… filled pages of my notebook in front of the kelp forest exhibit, marveled over the calm, sleeping octopus, and chuckled over otters playing like puppies.
