Some of the working titles that got left on the cutting room floor: No Bad Writers, The Ambivalent Writer, You Are What You Write, The Blue Pencil, and my personal favorite, Keep Your Day Job.

I loved that this happened. I found more encouragement from your book than the others I read. This is because you can think from the perspective of an agent, with the mindset of how the publishing world views writers, and then…you don the writer, and wallow in the same muck we do.

YAY Betsy! . Such a high honorable list to be included in, congratulations. If I were ever to write a book on writing, the title I’d go with: “Get The Lead Out”.
Well I’ll be hog-tied! Congratulations!! I loved loved loved your book and this is a well deserved recognition! Here are others that weren’t on the list that I thought were great – “Letters to a Young Artist” by Anna Deavere Smith and “The War of Art” or “Turning Pro” by Stephen Pressfield.
Love that book. I’ve read it through twice. And thumb through it now and then. Yet another working title: Step Away from that Ball of String, Dummy. Although I also like Don’t Quit Your Day Job. Probably because I have a night job and only feel like half a loser. Which is good. I can make almost anything work with the right motivation..
How fantabulous and wonderfulistic is this.
“Forest” guided me in a way no other book on writing did.
