I want to create a TV show called THE VOICE which will based on THE VOICE. The four judges will be George Saunders, Marianne Moore, Marilyn Robinson and Don Delillo. Writers will have 2-3 minutes to read from their work. IF the judges like the work they will hit the button and their chairs will turn. Then they will coach you and possibly give you a blurb.
Who would you choose for a coach? And why?

Marilynne Robinson. Because I think she is a great conversationalist.

Marilynne Robinson, likewise, for she is the best of the four (it is no contest).
Marilynne with 2Ns. Because…well, just because.
George Saunders. He’d focus.
George Saunders because he does not write like other people
Marilynne Robinson, because she writes the type of stories I recognize and can relate to.
Uncanny resemblance …Pharell Williiams & Marianne Moore.
Okay Betsy, so let’s say that the first season is successful, Pulitzer’s everywhere and during the second season a new panel of judges is chosen, Stephen King, Amy Einhorn, Chuck Sambochino and Betsy Lerner.
Would you do it?
And if not with them, then who?
Don Delillo, just because I think I’d like the dude.
Delillo, with the hope that he’d teach me to use that wide-angle lens.
Marilynne Robinson.
Marilynne Robinson because I’ve already had the pleasure of studying with her for one summer session. She’s smart and funny and speaks in complete sentences.
Val McDermid because she’s brilliantly blunt and Laurie King because she is also brilliant and takes no crap.
Betsy Lerner. Why? That can’t be a serious question.
Betsy, you are a riot. I subscribe to your feed, and the song lines for titles give so much pleasure to my old rock and roll self … What a mind. What a girl.
… I dunno, George Saunders? Sounds like Marilyn Robinson is tougher than I imagined – complete sentences! What a treat.
I would choose you
