I like the spirit of generosity in all of this. That’s one good thing that usually comes from writer’s groups – encouragement from those that know what you have to go through.
I have little patience for people who like to say, “I should write a book someday,” to which I mentally reply, “Which will never come.” They act as if there’s nothing to it but to carve out the time to do it and they aren’t even willing to make that commitment. They’re simply flapping their jaws to make noise because they are clueless to the suffering, the long hours, and those terrifying moments of self-doubt.
As we all know, it takes a lot more than that. Keep pushing, keep seeking. A writer writes, and it’s nice to get a little recognition from those who know what that really means.
So good on you Betsy, for handing out the kudos.
